At McCully’s Hill Farm we believe rural education is an important and valuable component of a young person’s experience. We would like to provide an opportunity for your students to learn about agriculture and rural studies on our working farm.
We offer curriculum-based programs September through June on Thursdays and Fridays only. We focus specifically on Harvest Time (September to October), Sugar Bush Season (March to early April) and Planting Season (May to June). If you wish to visit the farm during the winter or another time, we would be happy to offer environmental or rural education based on another theme.
Our programs are generally two hours in length and include wagon rides, a visit with the animals and curriculum linkages. Upon request, we will arrange a full day of programming to suit your objectives. Depending on your groups’ needs, educational activities will include creative group tasks, story telling, games, music, hands-on demonstrations and more, as designed by our staff. Younger children will enjoy our open space and play attractions such as the corn box and bale climb. Our staff have backgrounds in agriculture, outdoor education and environmental science as well as extensive experience with children.
This past Sugar Bush Season we welcomed students from London and Stratford to our farm. Highlights were tapping sugar maples for sap, horse drawn wagon rides and the fascinating history of maple syrup discovery and its production. Springtime highlights are the baby animals.
We invite you to telephone us for more information on our programs. A minimum of 20 people is required for a booking. We ask that you kindly book at least two weeks in advance.
