MAPLE WALNUT SCONES

Delicious for breakfast, dessert or a snack.

 

  • 3 ½ cups unbleached all-purpose flour* (or ½ whole wheat pastry*)
  • 1 cup walnuts or other nuts, finely chopped
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup butter*
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk
  • ½ cup maple syrup*

 

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter until it resembles course breadcrumbs. Stir in milk and maple syrup and work into a soft dough. Knead 5-6 times. Cut into 10-12 wedges. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven at 425F until golden, 15-18 minutes. Serve immediately with butter or McCully’s Hill Farm preserves*.
