BISON & CHEDDAR MEAT PIE

It is a very popular time of year for “the” meat pie. Bison provides a nutrient-rich, leaner variety. Try something different. Or just come buy one of our delicious pies!!!

• 1 ½ lb ground bison*
• 1 onion, chopped*
• 2 Tbsp preserved garlic scape* or 1 Tbsp minced fresh garlic*
• 1 celery stalk, including leaves, chopped
• 1 cup beef stock
• 2 Tbsp cornstarch
• ½ to 1 tsp ground pepper
• 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp hot sauce
• chili powder
• 1 ½ cups shredded old cheddar
• 10-inch unbaked deep double pie crust shelly paulocik

Brown bison thoroughly. Add vegetables and cook, medium, until veg is tender. Combine beef stock and cornstarch, stir in. Add seasonings. Add cheese and stir until melted. Let cool 10 minutes before putting in pie shell. Cover with pastry, crimp edges, cut small slits in top and brush with egg wash.
Bake in preheated 350 F oven for 40 – 45 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes to cool. Enjoy!
